About

Built by athletes. Engineered for athletes.

Spann Fitness was founded on a simple idea: the tools we train with should be built for the way we actually train. Olympic barbells were designed for bilateral loading — two hands, two sides, even weight. The moment you load one into a landmine, you're using a bar built for a different job. Spann Fitness exists to close that gap.

The Spann Bar is the world's first barbell engineered exclusively for landmine training. It's the result of years of coaching, programming, and watching athletes work around the limitations of standard equipment. It is patented (U.S. Patent No. D 1,105,306), purpose-built, and tested at the highest level of strength and conditioning.

Meet the founder — Collis Spann

Collis Spann is the owner of Sentinel Performance and Strength (SPS Fit) in Morganville, New Jersey, and the creator of the Spann Bar. With a coaching background spanning sports performance, rehabilitation, group fitness, and elite-level training, Collis has spent his career working with athletes at every stage — from youth programs to professional players preparing for the next season.

Before opening SPS Fit, Collis traveled to more than 30 countries, training under mentors across multiple disciplines and competing in Powerlifting, Olympic Weightlifting, Strongman, and Kettlebell sport. That breadth — exposure to how the world's best lifters build force, generate power, and move under load — is what shaped the design philosophy behind the Spann Bar.

At SPS Fit, Collis coaches athletes who have gone on to be All-Conference and All-American selections, professional football players, and team captains. The Spann Bar was developed inside that gym, in real training sessions, under real load — not in a marketing meeting.

Why a landmine-specific bar?

Landmine training unlocks rotational power, single-arm strength, and movement patterns that traditional barbell work can't replicate. But every athlete who's loaded a standard Olympic bar into a landmine has felt the same thing: a bar that's too long on the wrong side, knurling in the wrong places, and a feel that fights the movement instead of supporting it.

The Spann Bar fixes that. Strategic knurling at the loadable end. Balanced length built for one-sided loading. A finish that holds up to the unique stress patterns of landmine work. It's the right tool for the job.

The Spann Bar Invitational

Every year, Spann Fitness hosts the Spann Bar Invitational at SPS Fit in Morganville, NJ — a competition built around landmine movements, bringing together athletes from across the country to test what the bar can do under real competitive conditions.
