FAQ

Got a question about the Spann Bar? Find answers below. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, drop us a line.

What makes the Spann Bar different from a regular Olympic barbell?

Olympic barbells are designed for bilateral loading — weight on both ends. When you load one into a landmine, you’re using a tool built for a different job. The Spann Bar is engineered specifically for landmine training: balanced length, strategic knurling at the loadable end for grip and control, and a finish that holds up to the unique stress patterns of one-sided loading. It’s the right tool for the job, not an adaptation. Patented design (U.S. Patent No. D 1,105,306).

Will the Spann Bar fit my landmine attachment?

Yes. The Spann Bar fits standard 2-inch landmine sleeves, which is the spec used on virtually every landmine attachment, corner setup, and rack-mounted landmine on the market. No adapters needed.

Which size should I order?

We make four sizes:

  • Spann (94.1 in, 28.5mm grip) — Our flagship. Best for advanced lifters, heavy landmine work, commercial gyms.
  • Velencia (87.0 in, 25mm grip) — Most athletes, general training, home gyms. Most popular pick.
  • Melo (78.4 in, 25mm grip) — Speed work, agility, youth athletes, light conditioning.
  • Fre$h (77.0 in, 25mm grip) — Youth athletes, rehab, beginners, high-rep work.

If you’re unsure, the Velencia is the most versatile pick for adult athletes.

What’s the loading capacity?

550 lbs — more than enough for any training application, from rehab and youth work up through elite-level loading.

What exercises can I do with the Spann Bar?

Any landmine-based movement: landmine squats, single- and double-arm presses, rotational throws, rows, deadlifts, anti-rotation holds, lunges, split-stance work. The Spann Bar’s knurling and balance make these movements feel more controlled than with a standard Olympic bar — especially for rotational and pressing patterns where grip and forward intent matter most.

Is the Spann Bar suitable for beginners or youth athletes?

Yes. The Fre$h and Melo sizes are particularly suited for athletes who are new to landmine work, working through rehab, or focused on technique. The 25mm grip diameter on those models is more accessible than the 28mm grip of a standard Olympic bar, which makes a real difference for smaller hands.

Can women use the Spann Bar?

Absolutely — the Velencia, Melo, and Fre$h all use a 25mm grip diameter, which is the standard women’s barbell grip size. The bar is built for athletes, not for any specific gender.

Do I need any special equipment besides the bar?

You need a landmine attachment (sleeve-mounted, rack-mounted, or corner) and standard Olympic plates. That’s it. The Spann Bar replaces the Olympic barbell most people use in their landmine — everything else stays the same.

What’s the Spann Bar made of, and how do I take care of it?

Heavy-duty steel with an electrophoretic black paint finish — built for indoor and well-maintained gym environments. To keep it in good shape: wipe down after use with a dry cloth. If sweat or chalk build up, a light brushing followed by a thin coat of 3-in-1 oil keeps the finish looking new. Store in a dry environment.

Is the Spann Bar covered by a warranty?

Yes — every Spann Bar includes a 1-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects. For warranty claims, email collis@spannfitness.com with your order number and a photo of the issue.

How long does shipping take?

Orders ship within 2–3 business days. You’ll receive tracking via email as soon as your bar is on its way. Transit time after that depends on your location.

Where do you ship?

We currently ship within the contiguous United States. For Alaska, Hawaii, or international orders, email collis@spannfitness.com for a shipping quote.

What’s the return policy?
